Commentary:
This is the earliest of four censuses
(1900,[2]
1910,[3]
1920,[4]
and 1930[5])
in which Charles B. and Bertie Sharp are found
living together in or near the town of Forsyth, Taney County, Missouri.
In all four censuses they used the same names, and
their household characteristics were unique: lawyer, no children, and a 20 year age difference between spouses.
Despite the evidence that this was the same family in each of the four censuses, there was variation in the data
reported. For example, in 1900, Charles's birthplace was given as Kentucky and not Mississippi.
Also, in 1900, Bertie's age was increased by 10 years, so instead of reporting a birth year of 1873, 1863 was reported.
It is also known from other sources that their marriage took place on 2 May 1895,[6]
so they would not have been married for 20 years, as was claimed.
